About
As at this moment (Mar-22) Geopoesis is a small, independent developer with a big bag of game ideas.
The two games featured on this site, Geopoesis: Eos, is really a beta for a much more ambitious game. We hope you enjoy it enough to give us the confidence to expand and bring the bigger idea to life. Please use the contact page to send us your thoughts.
The inspiration for the game comes from our curiosity in three topics:
1) Compute kernel in Apple’s Metal and the ability it gives developers to squeeze big performance out of the limited power of a phone platform by shifting async calculations to the GPU.
2) Particles and their swarm like behaviour (loved that bit in Star Trek Beyond).
3) An interest we have had for sometime to try and move the game of chess into a sci-fi setting and add different behaviour to the pieces. Specifically, we wanted to design gameplay where securing, and [spoiler alert] sometimes sacrificing, territorial gain is a key strategy on a board-type layout which uses pieces with different local effects in the same way knights and pawns control different types of space. This is version one and, with enough interest, we’d love to develop a new version with more complex pieces and gameplay.
As for what’s next for the Geopoesis world … if we make a little profit from Eos … then we want to …
1) Build a new world with a load more difficult levels.
2) Develop the lore around Geopoesis.
3) Hire an artist to make the graphics better (we know the bases are a bit poor to say the least !).
4) We would love to improve the particle algorithms and increase the number of particles to make it a visual fireworks fest.
5) Following on from the Geopoesis poetic idea, we want to develop ways to reward the elegance with which players conquer each level. Maybe the Architect gifts blessings or something. We need to figure it out but for sure, all wins should not be rewarded equally.
6) Add additional functionality (especially for the alien AI).
7) Upgrade game maths need improvement. You can complete almost all levels without upgrading. One needs it 😉
8) We would love to combine the high level strategy of the current game with a requirement to also manage the individual swarms of drones at a close-up tactical level. Imagine to zoom down to the near surface and flip from 2D strategic to 3D close up control of the drones and how they carry out their work – sure this is a big ambition but we have some really cool ideas to enable this zoomed in feature to add FPS type game action on a phone plus we already have the Metal code to take it all into 3D.
Finally … and this is big .. we are also working on 3D space game around combining sailing, the mathematics of knots, solar storms and universe mirrors. We already managed to get the 3D Metal stuff working on iPhone with really amazing results from a simple phone but this project is big and we need to see some traction from Geopoesis before hiring in a bit of help to realise it.
We would be delighted to hear any feedback. So, thanks for reading this page and thanks again, in advance, if you now go to the Contact page and send us comments. We will do our best to answer all emails received.
